Interesting, but my argument is that Trump's most ardent followers do not listen to reasoning and are driven by conspiracy theories and an illogical connection to Trump. In fact, many Trump supporters in this thread have responded with . . . more conspiracy theories. My essay is focused on my observations with similarities my neighbor had when following Raniere: 1) always blame the fake news and; 2) make all outsiders the bad guys. Trump was correct when he said he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th avenue and he wouldn't lose a single voter. It isn't so much about political ideology (in fact very few Trumpers respond on policy issues at all), as it is about an emotional pull to a flawed leader. This is what I was trying to get to the bottom of.
